Pastor’s Piece for July 2025

“...so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ.” Philippians 1:10

 Dear Family,

Several people have sounded the alarm about dihydrogen monoxide and urged that it be banned or strictly controlled because:

1. It contributes to excessive sweating and vomiting.

2. It's a major component in acid rain.

3. It can cause severe burns when heated.

4. Accidental inhalation kills many people.

5. It accelerates the corrosion of many metals.

6. It has been shown to cause electrical failures.

7. It causes soil erosion.

8. It is found in all cancer tumors.

9. And much more!

  Critics warn that in spite of these dangers, dihydrogen monoxide is still widely used in nuclear power plants, in pesticides, in fire extinguishers, in producing plastic, and as an additive in junk foods. Many people have responded to this information by signing petitions demanding immediate action. Others wait to hear more information. And some laughingly dismiss it because they realize that this “dangerous” substance is H2O, everyday water, which covers over 70% of the earth and is essential for all life.

  A great deal of deceit is foisted on people because it so often works. Let's be careful about what we believe and what we pass along. The Bible warns: “Do not spread false rumors.” Exodus 23:1 We all need to realize that we can be misled and to be humble enough to admit when it happens. Let's ask God to protect us from lies and from passing on lies.

    The best defense against much of the falsehood and moral confusion around us is knowing what God says in His Word. Let's keep reading our Bibles this summer and putting God's truth into action. Let's be intentional about how we live each day, and let's keep following Jesus together!
