Pastor’s Piece for July 2026

Dear Church Family,

"Place your confidence completely in what God's kindness

will bring you when Jesus Christ appears again." 1 Peter 1: 13

Summertime in Minnesota brings freedom to spend time outdoors, visit with friends and family, and go to interesting places. We appreciate earth's beauty as we take walks, ride bikes, or travel. We enjoy gardening, fishing, playing sports and eating fresh produce. There's much to be grateful for!

Yet, even in the best times we may not be fully satisfied. That may be because of health, Iinances, or other troubles, or from feeling there's not enough time to do all we want. Sometimes there's just a vague unsettled feeling and we scold ourselves for not being more grateful to God. But be encouraged. The feeling that something is missing is not always a sign of sin or ingratitude. Humans have a deep longing for something more because we were designed to live in the perfection of Eden with no barrier between us and our heavenly Father, This world is not all it could be and should be, and neither are we. We were made for more!

Followers of Jesus look forward to experiencing the perfection of heaven, and we get homesick for the place where we'll be fully at home and at peace, The restlessness we feel is not necessarily disappointment with God, but anticipation for what He still has for us up ahead. A homing beacon in our hearts is drawing us to experience all God is and all God gives. Let's keep seeking Him in His Word in times of prayer and in connecting with His people. Romans 8: 18-25 says all creation feels profound sorrow from being out of synch with the Creator. But we cultivate hope by looking forward to the better things Christ has for us ahead. Let's follow Him with all our hearts!
