Pastor’s Piece for November 2026

“You are the light of the world... let your good deeds shine out for all to see,

so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”  Matthew 5:14-16

God is doing good things at Crane Chapel this fall. Our youth and kids' ministries are going strong and so is Sunday worship. We've hosted a Red Cross blood drive, packed food for Ukraine, helped stock the Salvation Army food shelf, and supported a missionary family. It's good to follow Jesus together!

Once again this year's election gives us a choice to make between contrasting visions for our city, state, and nation. There are no perfect parties or candidates. Yet I'm grateful that we have brothers and sisters in the Lord on the ballot who are capable and who genuinely seek to honor the Lord Jesus Christ. One of them attends Crane Chapel! I hope they can count on our support.

Sadly, millions of Christians neglect, or refuse, to vote. To me, that's like the man Jesus talked about who simply buried the valuables entrusted to him. His master called him “lazy and wicked” for being unwilling to make a legitimate effort to invest it. There are vulnerable people who need God's people to defend them by selecting godly policy makers. “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed.” Proverbs 31:8. I consider this verse particularly applicable to defending the unborn from death by abortion.

You can find Christian voter guides online that tell where the parties and candidates stand on important issues. Let's pray for God's guidance and then vote for eternal, Biblical values on November 3. “Think about things that are in heaven. Don’t think about things that are only on earth.” Colossians 3:2 In all we do, at church and in our civic duties, let's seek to bring glory to God.
